Emerging Technologies and Practices in Urban Stormwater Management This one-day seminar focused on the recent developments and emerging technologies in the field of urban stormwater planning and management. Topics included new porous pavement designs included in the UDFCD criteria manual, updates of Douglas and Arapahoe Counties' drainage criteria manuals, a new water-quality management plan for Denver that encourages advanced practices, innovative landscape designs that improve property values as well as stormwater quality, examples of channels that include "a sense of place", a new detention-design method based on a "full spectrum" of design storms, new spreadsheets and computer models from the District, and a report on the Jefferson County floods of June 27, 2004. Urban Drainage and Flood Control District Seminar of April 28, 2004: This one-day seminar focused on the current issues and recent developments in the field of stormwater planning, floodplain management, and stormwater quality management. Topics included: recent developments in drainage law; the design and maintenance of detention and drainageway structures; common mistakes made when seeking floodplain map revisions; frequent questions asked on the design and maintenance of stormwater-quality facilities, including mosquito management; inspection of runoff and sediment controls at construction sites, and a report on the District’s multi-year field testing of structural best management practices (BMPs).
